Welcome to the Black Hills

Monuments & Parks

The most popular destinations in our area are Mt. Rushmore National Monument and Crazy Horse Memorial. You can see Buffalo at Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park. All of these destinations and many more are within half an hour to an hour driving distance from our house. If you are going to Badlands National Park or to Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming, your drive is about two hours. Ask us about scenic routes to take!

Hiking & Biking

There are extended hiking and biking trails, such as the Mickelson Trail and the Centennial Trail. Bicycle rental and shuttle services are offered at different locations. Hiking to Black Elk, the highest point in the US East of the Rockies, is a popular activity. Near our B&B there are many trails on which you can take your ATV. There are places nearby where you can rent ATVs.

Skiing & Snowmobiling

If you’re looking to hit the slopes in the winter, it’s just a forty-five minute drive to Deer Mountain and Terry Peak ski resorts. Also near that area are many groomed cross country ski trails and snowmobile trails.

If you’re ready for a night on the town or just looking to do some shopping, the Chambers are here to help you choose your next adventure! Each location has a variety of different activities for you and your family. Whether you’re visiting Rapid City, Hill City, or Deadwood, the fun is endless.

We are just two miles from Pactola Lake and four miles from Sheridan Lake. Both are excellent for spending a day at the beach or on the lake swimming, boating, or fishing. Both lake marinas offer pontoon and kayak rentals. The cool waters of Rapid Creek are also just two miles from us and are popular for fly fishing.

Do you have a thirst that needs to be quenched? We have many different wineries and breweries to choose from. Firehouse Wine Cellars, Prairie Berry Winery, Lost Cabin Beer Co., and Firehouse Brewing Company are only a few of South Dakota’s choices. We had a great experience at Coyote Blues Village Bed & Breakfast. We’ve never stayed at a b&b but it was part of our adventure on our recent trip to South Dakota. Laine the owner gave us the warmest welcome and made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. She was able to accomadate our large family of 13 and even the kids loved it. Her home was warm, inviting, and very clean. Breakfast was perfect and so delicious. I would absolutely recommend Coyote Blue to anyone looking to stay at a b&b. Thank you for having us Laine!

This is by far the most incredible B&B we have ever stayed ad. Fantastic location, very nice rooms, the best breakfast ever and last but definitely not least extremely nice and friendly owners of the B&B (they helped us far beyond what could be expected when our car was smashed in a hailstorm). We cannot recommend this place enough.

This secluded, serene B&B is about 30 minutes from Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The property is beautiful and quiet, down a dirt road, so you feel like you are deep in the country. The owner was very nice. The breakfast was also very delicious, with several hot and cold choices baked fresh each morning, and included fresh jams canned on the property. Weather permitting, breakfast is served on the scenic deck. Our young boys enjoyed the games and the ping pong table. The rooms are new and very modern and clean, each themed differently. There is no air conditioning, only heat in the rooms, but the owner explained how to use the windows and shades to keep the room comfortable. We did actually hear the coyotes singing the blues in the evening! It was wonderful!

Very nice home nestled in a national forest. Our host was lovely and very accommodating. We arrived much later than we expected, but she was very easy to communicate with and left everything open for us. We will definitely be returning.

Coyote Blues is a beautiful, isolated bed & breakfast outside of Hill City, near Mount Rushmore. We spent 2 nights there in December and really enjoyed it as a base from which to explore the area. We stayed in the Celtic Room which was warm and comfortable. The breakfasts were substantial and varied, which was amazing. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Where do I even begin?! My husband surprised me for our one year anniversary here. We drove 6 1/2 hours and the drive up was absolutely breathtaking as it is fall. The owner is so welcoming and helpful with things to do in the area. Her and I clicked right away and she seems someone I've known her forever. She will be missed until we return again. The breakfast is delicious!! I woke early in the mornings before anyone and would sit on the porch swing sipping coffee and listening to music while the wind blew through the chimes and trees and st night I fell asleep to the songs of coyotes in the far distance. My soul feels at home. Thank you Laine for your hospitality and making my husband's and my first anniversary so special.

Owner is awesome host and now good friend, we had the best time during our stay. She has a gorgeous home with spectacular views. Felt at home from day one. Breakfast each morning at 830am consisted of a variety of my favorites, fresh coffee and juice, freshly cut fruit salad, cereal, cheese and meat platters and a different breakfast entre each day like quiche and sausage gravy and biscuits. I highly recommend this B&B as the experience will be unforgetable. Ray & Sue

We were floored by the beauty of the accommodations. There are suites inside this lodge that are decorated with choice antiques from around the world, hot tubs, private patio gardens. We were delighted by the attention to detail, whether in decor or breakfast. The breakfast is a fun and gracious way to make acquaintance with host and other guests (our experience was outstanding). Our breakfast: fresh raspberries and other fruits; great breads and blackberry or apricot jellies; deli meats and interesting cheeses; a crustless quiche; freshly baked pear and custard crumb tart; very good coffee and juice. We were stuffed.

We stayed here for our 1st anniversary and the people were so friendly and accommodating! The drive up the hill to the bed and breakfast is GORGEOUS! The breakfast out on the deck was lovely as well! Clean rooms, a very fun place to stay in the hills with no surrounding buildings or businesses. We had a very relaxing stay and would love to go back!

Room was great and the scenery was outstanding. The road to the bed and breakfast is a little tight but once you get there it is definitely worth it.
